This photo was taken in the summer of 2004 on a roadside during a photography trip from Los Angeles to Nevada. I was on my way when a scene caught my eye—a small grove of trees standing quietly. I took a picture; the trees were originally a vibrant summer green, but I converted the image to black and white. I wanted the work to have a delicate, pencil-drawn quality. It looks quiet, yet powerful.
